After conducting a nationwide search and consulting with the top minds in the North American private club / hospitality industry, The Club at Treasure Island is delighted to welcome Jeff Thomas as our new General Manager.
For over a quarter-century, Jeff has served as a leading voice in the world of private clubs, implementing groundbreaking organizational and operational advances to some of the most exclusive properties anywhere in the world. In fact, Jeff has served as General Manager at the Audubon Country Club in Naples, Florida; The Oglethorpe Club in Savannah, Georgia; and even the iconic Greenbrier Resort in Bridgeport, West Virginia.
But Jeff’s background isn’t just limited to executive-level private club management: He’s also an innovative restaurateur who excelled as Chef at the Hyatt Hotels in Denver, Colorado and Hilton Head, South Carolina. And as an entrepreneur, Jeff was the owner and Executive Chef of the award-winning, 80-seat Panache Restaurant in Coastal Carolina. Jeff earned an A.O.S. from the Culinary Institute of America and a Business Administration Degree from the University of Cincinnati.

Q: How does it feel to join “Tampa Bay’s Best Private Club,” The Club at Treasure Island?
A: I’m incredibly excited to be here in beautiful Tampa Bay, and I’m looking forward to becoming an active presence on Treasure Island! I’ve dedicated my adult life to studying and mastering the intricacies of the private club industry, and believe me, The Club at Treasure Island is redefining the entire private club experience. Thanks to the vision of Bill Edwards and Joe Jimenez, our club will set the gold standard for service, care, dining, family-fun and entertainment. Together, we’re going to accomplish great things!
Q: What are some of the new programs and services that you plan on implementing?
A: We’re here to, literally, “Enrich the Lives of Our Treasured Members Each and Every Day.” This means that we’ll closely listen to all of our members, and then work feverishly to implement the programs and services that will be most meaningful. Of course, I have plenty of ideas that I’d love to pursue: Fitness is a passion of mine, and I can certainly envision expanding our health and wellness amenities. But no matter what we do, it will always exemplify the Five-Star, Five-Diamond philosophy of the ultra-elite private clubs
Q: After serving as a General Manager at the legendary Greenbrier Resort and other top-tier private clubs, what are some of the life-lessons that you’ve learned?
A: I’ve learned so much from everywhere I’ve been, and I’ve had the great personal fortune to mentor under some of the most brilliant thinkers this industry has to offer. One of my critical life-lessons is that there are no “unimportant” details. Everything matters! For The Club at Treasure Island, everything we say, do and attach our name to must reflect the highest caliber of quality and service. We will never, ever compromise when it comes to quality and service, believe me!
Q: How do you envision the relationship between The Club and its members?
A: We always want our Treasured Members to feel valued, welcomed and important. This is their “home away from home” – a special, wonderful place for our members to celebrate great memories, create new moments of magic and forge friendships that last a lifetime. Our entire team is working 24 / 7 to enhance the lives of our members by providing A-List entertainment, unbeatable Concierge Services, Florida’s finest cuisine, and the ultimate in island-style comfort and hospitality.
Yes, we’ve just been recognized as “Tampa Bay’s Best Private Club.” Yes, it’s a great honor. But there’s always an opportunity to improve, and I give you my solemn word: The best is yet to come! Mary Wilson of the Supremes will be performing at The Club at Treasure Island on July 30th !
The Supremes were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988, received the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award in 1994, received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and in 1998, they were inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame.
In 2006, interest in the Supremes’ was stimulated after the release of the award-winning film “Dreamgirls,”. Although the film is a wonderful piece of work using the likeness of the Supremes, as well as their history, Ms. Wilson said it did not portray their true story.
While Ms. Wilson is best known as a founding member of the world’s most famous female trio – The Supremes who recorded 12 No.1 hits from 1964 to 1969 – the renowned singer’s career did not stop there. Ms. Wilson continues to soar to staggering heights. As you will see this July 30th, Ms. Mary Wilson still performs with the same passion as she did singing with the original Supremes.

July 8, 2011We are pleased to announce that Jeffrey “Jeff” Thomas has joined the organization as Executive Director and General Manager at The Club at Treasure Island.
Jeff comes to us with a solid background of restaurant and club management experience. His strengths are in organizational and operational procedures, budgeting and financial management as well as membership development and marketing.
His background extends over 26 years in the Hotel, Restaurant and Club environment. With a Business Administration Degree from the University of Cincinnati and an A.O.S. from the Culinary Institute of America; he is well versed in all the necessary aspects of running The Club.
Jeff has been employed as a Chef at the Hyatt Hotels in both Denver, CO and Hilton Head Island, SC. He was Chef/Owner of “Panache” at Hilton Head Island for an 80 seat fine dining restaurant. He was Club Manager at Sombrero Country Club in Marathon, FL, a 300 member, exclusive, boutique equity country club. And, Jeff has held the position of General Manager at Audubon Country Club in Naples, FL, The Greenbrier Resort in Bridgeport, WV and most recently, The Oglethorpe Club in Savannah, GA.
We are excited about Jeff joining us at The Club at Treasure Island, his sharing of experiences in the business, adding new concepts and ideas to our already energized and focused group.

Summer Fun For All Ages – The Club at TI offers the BEST in Tampa Bay Events
July 5, 2011On Monday, July 4th, The Club saluted the Land of the Free & Home of the Brave with our annual Independence Day Pool Party. Our Treasured Members enjoyed refreshing beverage specials, BBQ and all kinds of poolside fun! Some members have already posted photos on our Facebook page! We sure gave America a birthday to remember!
Next weekend – The Club offers the best in Treasure Island Entertainment-Friday, July 8 – Gotham Comedy Headliner David Alan Grier will make his long-awaited TI debut. David was hilarious on In Living Color (with cast members like Jim Carey, Damon Wayans and Jamie Foxx) – but standup is where he really shines!
Our new “TI Legends of Broadway” series featuring Chita Rivera previously scheduled for Saturday, July 9, has been POSTPONED, the new date will be announced soon. She’s a nine-time Tony Award-nominee and a 2009 recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom. This concert will be musical manna for all ages!
Our July concerts come to a close on Saturday, July 30 with Mary Wilson of The Supremes. As a founding member and lynchpin of the most successful vocal group in music history, Mary will regale TI with the biggest hits and brightest moments of her illustrious career.
We have swimming, sailing and tennis camps available until August 5th. Fun and educational, Camp TI is available on a week to week basis, a month-to-month basis, or even all summer long!

Since I have been here, working as the Director of Social Media for the Club, I have been blessed with the opportunity to meet the most amazing people, and they are YOU the treasured members.
When it comes to yacht clubs in Florida, I have to say that The Club at Treasure Island has the most incredible and beautiful atmosphere with some of the most inspiring and creative staff I have ever encountered. I too love Treasure Island and have never been happier to call this beautiful island my home sweet home.
Lastly, I must congratulate all of you for your club being awarded the prestigious title of Best Private Club in Tampa Bay, by Tampa Bay Magazine.
With acts like: KC and the Sunshine Band, Jon Secada, Blood Sweat & Tears, The Plain White Ts, and so many more, it’s no wonder that, when it comes to Tampa Bay concerts, Tampa Bay Magazine considers The Club at Treasure Island to have the best concerts in Tampa Bay!
